The Essence of Caring and Sharing

Our Mission

Our mission is to develop and operate projects and services that promote the economic and social well-being of children, individuals, families, and communities.

Our History

Caring and Sharing Inc. (CSI) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization founded in 2012 by Barbara Campbell, to address a number of challenges in the target community. (CSI) provides a wide variety of educational, nutritional, and social services to the county’s low-income varied population groups. CSI is a ProLiteracy affiliate agency and is registered with the National Literacy Directory as an Adult Basic Education and GED preparation agency. Highlights over the agency’s years include:


  • May 2013: The Healthy Citizens Initiative Food and Nutrition program was implemented and nearly 300 citizens are served each month by the CSI food pantry.
  • July 9, 2013: CSI developed a partnership with Bladen Community College,  Dublin, NC to operate Basic Education and GED classes.
  • July 2014: Summer enrichment camp was implemented.
  • October 2014: CSI partnered with North Carolina Department of Public Education to operate a 21 st Century Community Learning Center in Bladen County. This program offers afterschool tutoring, homework assistance and STEAM activities to students in grades K-8 and Literacy programs to Parents and families and the community. This program is in collaboration with Bladen County Public Schools.


In the face of the severe demographics of our community, CSI is committed to helping people of Bladen County and surrounding areas develop their educational, and employment skills and thus break-away from the destructive cycle of their environment. By designing services that are tailored to the social, cultural and economic fabric of the County, CSI is able to attract children, youth, adults, seniors and veterans together to share, learn and better themselves and in their community. Through innovative and comprehensive programming, CSI helps children, youth, adults, seniors take important steps for their future through access to higher education, life skills, nutrition, and mentoring. As a result, CSI has built a strong reputation in the County as a trusted community resource.
